What is Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy?
The Exercise Goals:
Who would benefit from VRT?
If you are currently experiencing dizziness or vertigo or have in the past, it is worthwhile to be assessed by a Vestibular Therapist as there may be permanent deficits in your balance, coordination, and/or vision.
What are the exercises like?
The exercises are provided based on each patients’ individualized assessment and tailored to their specific case. Most of the exercises themselves are not strenuous but require consistency to see benefits over longer periods of time. They may aggravate symptoms at first, but a steady decline should be observed soon after.
How long will I be in therapy for?
Your vestibular rehabilitation will be based on your individual evaluation. Treatment sessions are typically 60-minutes long and can range in the number of sessions. Depending on the cause, the resolution of the problem could take several weeks or the issue may be chronic.
Cost per session?
The initial assessment costs $130 for a comprehensive clinical examination and each follow-up session is a standard charge of $75. Vestibular therapy is covered under most private insurance plans for physiotherapy.
